The paradisiacal islands of Nabucco, Nunukan and Virgin Cocoa are located on the east coast of Borneo in the Maratua Atoll. One of the best diving areas in the world is right on the doorstep! The journey takes place in Balikpapan and then on by domestic flight to Berau. Once there, a member of staff will meet you and take you by car to the nearby jetty. A 3-4 hour boat trip along the Berau River, past settlements, plantations, jungle and across the Sulawesi Sea marks the end of a long journey. Pre- or subsequent stays in the Samboja Lodge Balikpapan for orangutan observation can be organized on request.
