EXTRA DIVERS SPICE ISLAND
The professionally managed Extra Divers dive center, under German leadership, is located directly on the resort’s jetty. The pristine dive sites are a paradise for divers, offering both fascinating macro life and impressive big fish encounters.
Dive up to four times a day, exactly how you like it. Whether single tank, double tank, early morning dives, or night dives – you can tailor your personal diving adventure. Exciting day trips, such as to the renowned muck diving site “Magic Jetty,” are also available.
More than 40 untouched dive sites are just 5–30 minutes away by boat. Diving is conducted in small, exclusive groups – with a maximum of four guests per guide – ensuring maximum safety, comfort, and a highly personal experience.
From easily accessible macro sites and colorful coral gardens to thrilling drift dives with opportunities to see big fish, there’s something for every diver. Two comfortable dive boats are available for all excursions.
Dive Sites & Experience
The North Moluccas guarantee unique dive experiences, as the region boasts extraordinary biodiversity.
The reefs themselves are particularly spectacular: with more than 450 different coral species, Halmahera ranks among the most species-rich regions in the world. Vibrant coral gardens, steep walls teeming with life, and massive, intact hard corals create stunning photo opportunities. The variety of sponges is equally impressive – from giant barrel and vase sponges to delicate tube sponges and colorful colonies that transform the reef into a fairytale underwater world.
One of the highlights of the region are the bumphead parrotfish. In Halmahera they grow exceptionally large and move about in impressive schools – a sight that thrills even experienced divers.
Blacktip reef sharks are also a common sight, while at current-rich dive sites, grey reef sharks and whitetip reef sharks often pass by. A very special highlight is the endemic and rare Halmahera Walking Shark, often spotted strolling leisurely across the reef during night dives.
Macro lovers will also get their money’s worth: with the help of our experienced dive guides, guests can spot pygmy seahorses, ghost pipefish, rare nudibranchs, frogfish, various octopuses, crabs, and many other fascinating critters. A day trip to the legendary Magic Jetty is a must.
Best of all: in this largely untouched region, divers almost always have the sites to themselves – a paradise far from mass tourism.
